Robbing
the US Mint
In the 1960s, a Hell’s Angel named Buzz robbed the US Mint. He and his friends stole three rolls of money paper, and printed $3M worth of counterfeited $20 dollar bills.
They drove down Route 95 from Washington DC to Florida stopping at gas stations at every exit. They would buy a stick of gum with the fake money and get back real cash. At one point, a cashier noticed the bill was fake because of a printing error, and Buzz’s friend was arrested.
The other men gunned it down to Florida. Buzz opened a biker bar called Nice and Easy as a front for his money. He was never caught.
For the rest of his life, Buzz wore all black, a wallet chain, and a long ZZ Top style beard. When he died, he left a treasure map for his two sons. He had the rest of his cash buried in coffee cans in his backyard.
